TRADITIONAL VILLAGES AND PAGODA TOUR​ ITINERARY

Program 1: Bat Trang – Dong Ho – But Thap – Dong Ky.

8:00 am you will be picked up from your hotel lobby by our guide and driver for a spectacular trip to the most famous traditional villages in Vietnam. Many visitors have been seduced by rich in handcraft products which are made dexterous, hardworking and creative qualities of the Vietnamese people. Villages in the vicinity of Hanoi are the cradle of skilled crafts, folk arts and traditional festivals.

The first stop is the pottery village of Bat Trang to see how the beautiful ceramic products are made. Continue to Dong Ho village, which is known for its traditional wooden block printing. Here they make ‘Giay do’ paper and paint them with traditional designs. All of paper is made by hand and some, still in the traditional way with all natural products.

In the afternoon visit But Thap pagoda. The name “But Thap” (Pen Stupa) was given by King Tu Duc in 1876 when, on in Kinh Bac, he saw the beautiful stone stupa shaped like a pen at this pagoda, which had previously been known as Ninh Phuc Tu (Pagoda of Peace and Happiness).
Continue to visit the wood – carving village of Dong Ky. Here they made furniture inlaid with mother of pearl and finished off with layer of clear lacquer. In laying the mother of pearl is highly labour intensive, see how it is delicately sawed info fine fish-bone sliver and paints takingly set into wood.

Return to Hanoi where the full day trip ends at your hotel around 17:00.

Program 2: Thay Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda and Van Phuc Village.

8:00 am you will be picked up from your hotel lobby by our guide and driver to visit THAY pagoda (Master pagoda) & TAY PHUONG pagoda, a famous one for 79 statues carved after classical Buddhist stories.
On the way back to Hanoi, stop to visit a famous traditional silk producing village – Van Phuc village.

Return to Hanoi where the full day trip ends at your hotel around 17:00.
