The Government’s Resolution No. 79/NQ-CP dated and signed on May 25, 2020 listed 80 countries whose citizens shall be granted with e-visa and added 4 more seaports that allowed foreigners enter and exit Vietnam by e-visa. This resolution takes effect  from July 1, 2020.


The 79/NQ-CP resolution was issued in line with the Law on Foreigners’ Entry Into, Exit From, Transit Through and Residence in Vietnam.

Vietnam E-visa is one of visa types issued to foreigners by Vietnamese Immigration Department via electronic system. Vietnam E-visa is valid for maximum of 30 days, single entry.

Outside Vietnam foreigners who want to enter Vietnam can personally apply for E-visa or through the inviting/guaranteeing agencies and organizations.

Who are eligible for Vietnam E-visa?

Which ports allow E-visa holders to enter Vietnam from July 1, 2020?

E-visa holders can enter/ exit Vietnam by air, by land border crossing or by sea from July 1, 2020.

Visitors can touch down at any of Vietnam’s 8 international airports, including Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Noi Bai in Hanoi and Da Nang in the central region. They can also arrive via land at 16 international border gates, and via sea at 13 ports across the country.

By the way it's not mentioned in the resolution what date the borders will be reopened for foreigners to enter Vietnam. We will keep it posted if there are  any changes to the rules for visa.
