NORTHEAST VIETNAM ADVENTURE
Experience the Northeast Vietnam from the remote regions and ethnic hill-tribe minority villages to the relaxing waters of Halong Bay. This 6-day tour is a fabulous introduction to the country and its culture.

DAY 1 : HANOI – THAI NGUYEN – BA BE (L)

Depart your hotel this morning at 07h30 for a 02 hour drive to Thai Nguyen. En route visit the Thai Nguyen Museum of Ethnology to learn about the tribal people in the mountainous region of northern Vietnam. Continue 105 km drive to Na Phac and Cho Ra enjoying picturesque landscapes along the road. Stop for a late lunch in Cho Ra Town.
After lunch head to Ba Be and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Ba Be National Park and Ba Be Lake on a local boat cruise.

At the end of the day, transfer to the village of the Tay in Pac Ngoi.

DAY 2: BA BE – HUA MA CAVE – CAO BANG  (B, L)

After breakfast at the home-stay we go through Ba Be forest. You can discover spectacular rivers, deep valleys, natural caves and undulating mountains then visit Hua Ma cave, the most beautiful and largest cave in Ba Be National Park.

Back to the home-stay for check-out and say good bye to the host family then hit the road again for the 3-hour drive to Cao Bang, where the ethnic people of the H’Mong, Dzao, Tho and Nung tribes all live together in harmony. Arrive in Cao Bang town and check into your hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore the town.

DAY 3: CAO BANG – BAN GIOC WATERFALL – THANG HEN LAKE (B, L)

Heading out of the town, venture into the remote northern region of Cao Bang Province. The scenic roads traverse Trung Khanh before arriving at Ban Gioc Waterfall, the biggest waterfall in Vietnam (though not full of water in the dry season). Situated nears the Sino-Vietnamese border, this is an attractive spot create a poetic, fresh, quiet beauty of water, forest and cloud area mixed with the colourful mountainous ethnic minorities.
Have a picnic lunch while contemplate the magnificent waterfall. Continue to visit Nguom Ngao Cave then back to Cao Bang. Stop at Thang Hen Lake – 25 km from Cao Bang, embark for a boat trip to discover this lake surrounded by the forest and rocky formation.

Overnight  in Cao Bang (optional stay at a stilt house near Thang Hen Lake).


DAY 4: CAO BANG – LANG SON (B, L)

Before departing Cao Bang, consider climbing the hill up to the War Memorial for a great panoramic view. The famous Highway 4 winds its way through steep mountain passes with spectacular vistas! Lang Son, the capital of this mountainous area, is an important crossing and trading route with China. The area is home to Dzao, Man, Tho and Nung ethnic minority groups. Lang Son has two markets, the Old Market and the Dong Kinh Market, where shoppers can find everything from electronics and gadgets to textiles and house wares. Just a couple of kilometers from town are two large, beautiful caves and the ruins of the Mac Dynasty Citadel that are worth a visit. Tam Thanh Cave contains a pond and offers great views of the surrounding farmlands. Nhi Thanh Cave, formed by the river that flows through it, has poems carved into the entrance by the man who discovered the cave in the 18th century.

DAY 5: LANG SON – HA LONG BAY, THE WORLD HERITAGE (B, L, D)

After breakfast take 4-hour drive from Lang Son to Halong city (200 km). Arrive at your jetty in Halong City towards noon and proceed with check-in formalities. After your welcome onboard, a lunch will be served while cruising towards the bay itself.

In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and/or activities (depending on each boat’s itinerary) or just spend some time relaxing on board. Towards the end of the day the boat sets anchor for the night among the karst formations. Dinner is served on board.

DAY 6: HALONG BAY – HANOI (B, L)

Rising to the sound of lapping bay waters, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. Sitting on the upper deck, you can relax while taking in the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the emerald water of the bay.

On your return to Halong City enjoy a wholesome brunch as your boat wends through strange-shaped limestone rock formations. Upon disembarkation your driver will meet you for the transfer back to Hanoi with 30 minute break en route to stretch the legs.
